Green Study IV
I am very pleased with the 'Green study IV' that
you painted for my surgery in Cadnam. It creates just the
modern effect that I wanted and makes a nice talking point
with my patients. Everyone sees something different in it,
but I always see the same thing - which is champagne exploding
from a bottle of bubbly - a happy feeling to greet me each
day as I start work! I have seen attempts to create the
same effect by other artists but they cannot get the 3D
effect that you have created with the layering and varnish
finish. (HN)

Green Sky - detail
The painting I purchased from Brian, never fails
to "gladden my heart" when I look at it. It appears
so simple, but on closer scrutiny it becomes clear that
it is not. Each colour of pigment merges with its neighbour
in beautiful harmony, and it is virtually impossible to
tell when yellow becomes green and green turns into blue.
Mine is a painting of great tranquility and I love it. (MM)

Aira Force - detail
I love the vibrancy, the vitality, the colour, the
depth, the movement, and the fact that I can't stop looking
at the painting that I bought, and every time I do look
I see it differently, a new depth, a new colour, a new light.
It also goes very well in my kitchen! (NG)

Scorched Earth
Redrise Furze Evening
The paintings are hung on the top hall landing,
so you cannot help but look at them before you go downstairs.
I really love seeing them first thing in the morning; they
make me feel happy. The colours and textures are amazing,
vibrant and warm. I love the way they change with the light.
(NB)
- They are the crown jewels of the house. You come
up the stairs and you feel lifted by their dramatic presence.
(AB)
- The paintings have really grown on me. They do
not fail to get admiring glances from visitors to the house.

Sky Three

Sky One
I also have three small painting called Skies. These
are free standing. Again the colours are fantastic. They
make you feel you are on holiday. Everybody in the house
changes their colour sequence, so they are great fun. (NB)

Blue Relief –
Hardraw Force, Cumbria
It’s in the bedroom and the first thing I
see when I wake up. It sets me up for the day.
- ‘I want an unfinished painting.’
‘Why?’
‘Because when you’re dead everybody will have
your finished paintings but I shall be the only one with
an unfinished one.’ (He chose a rejected painting
and asked me to sign it. Later he returned and bought four
[finished] paintings.) (OP)
- Your waterfall is better than the one by Turner.’
(Referring to Blue Relief – Hardraw Force, Cumbria).

Alizarin Strike
I love the vibrant colours. The texture echoes the
forest and countryside. (SH)
- Alizarin Strike is incredibly powerful –
a flash of violent colour in a rich blackness.’ (ST)
